The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Nadowli-Kaleo, Hon. Madam Mary Haruna, has received five motorbikes from the German development agency, GIZ, to support agricultural extension services in the district.
The donation forms part of efforts to enhance farmer engagement, increase productivity, and improve the delivery of agricultural support services to rural communities.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Hon. Mary Haruna expressed her appreciation to GIZ for their timely intervention, describing the gesture as a major boost for the district’s agricultural sector. She stressed that mobility remains a major challenge for extension officers and that the provision of motorbikes would significantly improve their efficiency and outreach programmes within the district.
“These motorbikes have come at a very critical time. Our extension officers need to engage farmers frequently, especially in the aftermath of last year’s drought which severely affected productivity,” she said.
The DCE urged beneficiaries to handle the motorbikes responsibly, ride with care, and conduct routine maintenance to ensure durability. She also called for increased support for farmers who are still recovering from the effects of poor rainfall and failed harvests from the previous farming season.
Hon.Madam Mary Haruna further charged the extension officers to intensify public education on the Government’s “Feed Ghana Programme” initiative.
She noted that the programme is a key driver of food security and rural development and urged officers to register all interested farmers in every community to ensure inclusive participation. “No community should be left behind. Our officers must take the message to the doorstep of every farmer,” she emphasised.
Hon. Madam Mary Haruna reaffirmed her administration’s unwavering commitment to improving livelihoods in Nadowli-Kaleo District. She called on citizens to support government initiatives, protect resources, and work together in building a prosperous district. “Development is a collective responsibility,” she stated. “With unity, commitment, and support from the people, Nadowli-Kaleo will rise to even greater heights.”
