Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has announced the introduction of a new award scheme aimed at promoting integrity and holding individuals accountable for their actions.
According to the Speaker, the initiative will encourage a national movement where integrity is not only expected but also desired and rewarded.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament, he revealed that the National Integrity Award will recognize individuals who demonstrate ethical conduct, transparency, and a commitment to fighting corruption.
“The National Integrity Award scheme is a crucial step in promoting integrity in the country by recognizing and honoring individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to ethical conduct, transparency, and the fight against corruption.
“By this initiative, we aim to inspire a national movement where integrity is not only expected but desired and rewarded as we recognize and award men and women of integrity,” he said.
In addition to the National Integrity Award, Speaker Bagbin announced the introduction of the National Vulture Award, which will name and shame individuals deemed to have the lowest levels of integrity.
“We shall name and shame those we consider as persons of low integrity. Therefore, apart from the National Integrity Award that will be given to men and women of integrity, there will also be what is termed the Vulture Award, which will be bestowed upon individuals considered to have the lowest levels of integrity in the country,” he stated.
