Two concerned Ghanaians have reportedly called for an investigation into alleged acts of corruption and abuse of office involving Sulley Sambian, the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Dr. Sulemana Abdulai, the Board Chairman, of the Northern Development Authority (NDA).

According to a report by radiotamaleonline.com, the allegations — raised by an insider informant and a concerned citizen, whose identities have been withheld – focus on suspected improprieties in the sale of state assets, misuse of authority resources, and conflicts of interest by the two officials.

The duo are accused of orchestrating the sale of prime lands owned by the NDA in Tamale, the Northern regional capital, as well as Accra, the nation’s capital.

Specifically, the accusations involve the sale of prime lands at Cantonments in Accra, situated opposite the American Embassy.

“The property, measuring 1.714 acres, is said to have been transferred to the NDA with a bungalow and outer house intended to serve as a liaison office for the erstwhile Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA). It has reportedly been sold to a private developer,” the report said.

Additionally, Sambian and Dr. Abdulai are alleged to have auctioned approximately 10 serviceable vehicles, including Toyota V8 Land Cruisers, Toyota Hilux pickups, and saloon cars, to associates and cronies.

It is suspected that Sambian personally acquired five of these vehicles through intermediaries.

The officials are also accused of selling tricycles purchased at inflated prices to associates at significantly reduced rates.

The call for a probe extends to the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of a Toyota Hilux pickup with registration number GS 9442-21, reportedly procured for operational purposes, but allegedly in the possession of the Board Chairman since October 2021.

Furthermore, 24 brand-new motorcycles have reportedly gone missing under the leadership of Sambian and Dr. Abdulai.
