National Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, says the party is poised to return to power in the 2028 general elections.
He claims the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), despite currently enjoying goodwill from the public, has started veering off course and will soon lose the trust of Ghanaians.
Speaking on Accra-based JoyPrime on Wednesday, June 25, monitored by ModernGhana News, Nana B said the NPP is taking steps to reorganise and reposition itself as the party that can deliver prosperity to the people.
“I believe that in 2028, we’ll win the elections. We’ll win because I’ve seen what the NDC is doing now. And for me, I’m very disappointed. I know that by the end of the year, the goodwill they had would have drastically dwindled,” he said.
He noted that the party is preparing early and will focus on exposing what he described as the failed promises of the NDC.
“We are going to work early, and we are also going to highlight the flaws of the NDC—many of the promises they made that I find as failed promises,” Nana B stated.
He also pointed out that the NDC will have to elect a new flagbearer ahead of the 2028 polls since President John Mahama will not be eligible to contest again after serving two terms.
“President Mahama will not be in the seat again. They will also go through a certain reorganization as we’re going through, and we’re going to face them squarely. So I’m very, very hopeful that in the year 2028, NPP will come back again,” he stated.
As part of its restructuring efforts after losing the 2024 elections, the NPP has set January 31, 2026, as the date to elect a new presidential candidate.
