NDC knows theyve lost — NPP threatens series of actions over Ablekuma North election results impasse

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has launched a scathing attack on the Ghana Police Service and the Mahama-led government, accusing them of deliberately frustrating the Electoral Commission’s efforts to conclude the collation of parliamentary results in the hotly contested Ablekuma North Constituency.

In a statement issued after a National Council meeting, the party alleged that the Ghana Police, acting under the directives of the Minister for the Interior and the Attorney General, have blatantly defied a High Court order requiring them to provide security for the EC to finalise the collation of results from three outstanding polling stations.

“The Electoral Commission has confirmed that there is no court process restraining them from completing the collation and declaring the results,” the statement said, adding “Yet the Police, in clear contempt of court, are refusing to act—simply because they know the NDC has lost the seat.”

The NPP accused President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of using the Police to suppress the democratic will of the people of Ablekuma North by stalling the process and denying them parliamentary representation.

“The only reason Mahama and his NDC are not allowing the Police to provide security is because they know they have lost. This is a calculated attempt to use state institutions to frustrate the process and hold the people of Ablekuma North hostage,” the party charged.

Describing the situation as a grave threat to democratic governance, the NPP vowed to launch a series of nationwide actions in the coming days to compel the authorities to allow the EC to complete the process without interference.

“We wish to serve notice that we shall, in the coming days, roll out a series of actions to get the powers that be to uphold the democratic rights of the people of Ablekuma North,” the party declared.
