NDC Muslim youth demand recognition for Alhaji Said Sinare

A Coalition of Concerned Muslim Youth and Grassroots Activists within the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a fiery statement demanding an immediate national appointment for Alhaji Said Sinare, warning that continued neglect of the respected party stalwart risks alienating the party’s Muslim base and igniting internal unrest.

In a statement released in Accra, the group expressed deep frustration over what they described as the “deliberate exclusion” of Alhaji Sinare—former National Vice Chairman, diplomat, financier, and founding figure of the NDC Zongo Caucus—from the current wave of national appointments.

“This is no oversight,” the statement read. “It is a calculated snub—an affront to the Muslim community, an insult to loyalty, and a betrayal of those who stood by the party during its most difficult years.”

The group questioned why a loyal figure like Sinare, who they say has consistently championed the NDC’s cause in both government and opposition, remains sidelined while “political newcomers and fair-weather allies” are handed high-profile appointments.

“Where were these new faces when the NDC was struggling in opposition?

Who mobilised the Zongos, defended President Mahama, and sustained the party’s base through thick and thin?

It was Alhaji Sinare,” they emphasised. “Yet today, those who did little are rewarded, and the loyal are forgotten.”

The coalition warned that the continued neglect of Alhaji Sinare and other grassroots heroes is fueling anger and disillusionment among Muslim supporters, who feel taken for granted after consistently backing the NDC at the polls.

“This is not about favouritism—it’s about fairness.

Alhaji Sinare does not seek charity; he deserves recognition and respect for his unmatched service to the party,” the statement said.

They called on President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC leadership to urgently address what they described as a growing disconnect between the party’s grassroots and its current decision-makers.

“We urge the President to act now. Ignoring this issue any longer will only deepen the frustration and risk a grassroots backlash that could harm the party’s unity and electoral fortunes.”

The statement concluded with a stern warning: “Do not underestimate the quiet rage brewing in the Zongos.

Loyalty must be honoured, not exploited. The base is watching, and the silence is no longer golden.”
