Comrades Issah Alhassan, Deputy Secretary NDC Nordic Chapter, David Issaka Member of the Policy Committee, NDC Nordic Chapter, and Aku-Sika Jørgensen Member of the Policy Committee, NDC Nordic Chapter officially presented the executive summary of a policy proposal to Hon. Barbara Serwaa Asamoah, Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, at the party headquarters in Accra on March 14, 2025.
During the meeting, the team outlined the purpose behind establishing the NDC Nordic Chapter Policy Committee. They explained that before the 2024 elections and the launch of the party’s manifesto, a committee had been formed to explore key areas of interest and make recommendations for inclusion. However, due to time constraints, the initiative could not be fully realized. Following the NDC’s electoral victory, the Nordic Chapter assigned the committee the task of developing a policy proposal aligned with the manifesto. The objective was to provide recommendations for the party and relevant ministries and agencies tasked with implementing the government’s agenda.
After two months of extensive research and discussions, the policy committee finalized its report, covering key sectors such as education, energy and mining, finance and revenue generation, health, housing, industrialization and trade, security, youth employment, ICT, and transport. The completed report was submitted to the Nordic Chapter’s executive members for review and approval. A meeting was later held between the executives and committee members, where, after thorough deliberations, the report was endorsed. It was also agreed that the report would be submitted to the Functional Executive Committee of the NDC through a soft copy emailed to the International Relations Department and two hard copies delivered to the party headquarters and the presidency for consideration.
Following weeks of coordination, the team successfully presented a hard copy of the report to the Deputy General Secretary, who will discuss it with the Director of International Relations, Hon. Alex Segbefia, before forwarding it to the Functional Executive Committee for further review.
Hon. Barbara Asamoah expressed her appreciation to the team and the Nordic Chapter for their efforts in formulating a policy proposal to support the government’s agenda. She assured them that the Functional Executive Committee would review and deliberate on the document before making a final decision.
The team, in turn, thanked Hon. Barbara Asamoah for granting them an audience and receiving their submission.
