A youth activist of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed concerns about the party’s trajectory following its recent electoral victory.
In an open letter addressed to the party’s leadership, Delanyo Agbe urged the leadership to prioritize party rebuilding and reorganization over lobbying for appointments.
Agbe warned that if the party’s leadership fails to act, it risks alienating supporters and losing momentum. He emphasized the need for a clear roadmap for party reorganization, including renewal of party structures, engagement with grassroots members, and recruitment of new members.
The activist called on the party leadership to come out with a clear plan for party reorganization, prioritizing member needs. Failure to do so, he warned, might lead to peaceful protests to hold leaders accountable and protect the legacy of founder Jerry John Rawlings.
The letter highlights the importance of balancing governance with party building. As the NDC enjoys a significant majority in parliament, its leadership must ensure that the party remains vibrant and relevant to its supporters.

An Open Letter to the Leadership of the NDC
As a youth activist within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), I write to express my concerns regarding the party’s current trajectory. While we have enjoyed overwhelming support from the masses, there is a growing sense of disillusionment among party faithful. The recent elections have given us a significant mandate, but we must not forget the importance of party rebuilding and reorganization.
As we celebrate our victory, it’s crucial that we don’t get consumed by lobbying for appointments. While these appointments are important, we must not neglect the foundation of our party. We need to focus on rebuilding and strengthening our grassroots structures, engaging with our members, and ensuring that our party remains relevant and vibrant.
To solidify the overwhelming support we’ve gained, we need a clear roadmap for party reorganization. This should include:
Ensuring that our party structures are functional, inclusive, and representative of our diverse membership.
Regular communication and engagement with our grassroots members to understand their concerns and aspirations.
Proactive efforts to recruit new members and ensure that our party remains attractive to the youth and other demographics.
If we fail to act early, we risk alienating our supporters and losing the momentum we’ve gained. As a last resort, we may be forced to organize peaceful protests to hold our leaders accountable and protect the legacy of our founder, Jerry John Rawlings.
I urge our leadership to come out with a clear plan for party reorganization and to prioritize the needs of our members. We owe it to ourselves, our party, and the people who have entrusted us with their mandate.
