Baidoo has dismissed allegations that he sold the NDC’s parliamentary victory to the NPP
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Assin South in the 2024 general elections, Stephen Kofi Baidoo, has expressed gratitude to traditional leaders in the constituency for their support during the elections.
Baidoo, who was accompanied by party executives from both constituency and national levels, paid a courtesy call on the chiefs to officially thank them for their role in fostering peace and participation in the electoral process.
Speaking during the visit, Baidoo noted that although the party fell short of winning the parliamentary seat, its performance showed remarkable improvement compared to previous elections.
Citing electoral statistics, he revealed that the margin between the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) reduced significantly over the years from 19.19% in 2016 to 15.87% in 2020, and now 4% in the recent polls.
This, he said, was evidence of the party’s growing support base in Assin South.
Baidoo also dismissed allegations that he “sold” the NDC’s parliamentary victory to the NPP, describing the claims as baseless and misleading.
He urged party supporters to ignore such rumors and remain united, assuring them of his unwavering commitment to the NDC and the people of Assin South.
The NDC candidate highlighted President John Dramani Mahama’s victory in the constituency’s presidential election as a sign of hope for future political gains and development.
He expressed confidence that stronger collaboration between the NDC, government, and traditional leaders would bring more developmental projects to the constituency.
Baidoo praised the traditional authorities for their significant role in shaping the political landscape and pledged to deepen relations with them in the years ahead.
“This visit is about unity and cooperation. We want to work hand-in-hand with our traditional leaders to ensure progress and better living conditions for our people,” he stated.
