Netizens beg Otumfuo to stay away from Bawku mediation process

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is the Asantehene

The ongoing and seemingly unending conflict in Bawku, which continues to claim lives and destroy properties, has sparked concerns among some Ghanaian netizens over the apparent inaction of state authorities and the government in resolving the crisis.

Some netizens have expressed the view that the current government, while in opposition and during its campaign period, politicised the Bawku conflict to gain electoral support but has since appeared to show a relaxed stance toward the escalating crisis.

Following the government’s announcement that the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will lead the mediation process in the Bawku conflict, some critics have opposed the decision.

They argue that the Asantehene should refrain from taking on the role, stating that he was not responsible for the origins of the conflict and should not become entangled in its complexities.

Others, however, have placed blame on politicians for their roles in the escalating crisis, accusing them of politicising the situation rather than addressing it constructively.

They argue that if the political parties truly had good intentions, they could have collaborated and worked together to resolve the conflict and promote peace.

Instead, they say these politicians have chosen to use the issue as a campaign tool.

I wish Otumfuo could desist from settling the Bawku war. The very same people insulted who insulted him and the whole of Asantes do not deserve any help from us. Let them

kill each other over there. Let them destroy Ghana. Mmoa

Propaganda is tearing our beloved country apart.

Before the 2024 election campaign, the NDC exploited the Bawku conflict and the issue of galamsey to mislead Ghanaians for political gain. Today, we are witnessing the worsening of the Bawku situation and a surge in galamsey pic.twitter.com/PkmH4dy1PP

For the IGP to travel all the way to Bawku and make no statement towards peace.

And allegedly had his car shot at, and a week later 2 of his men are killed again is a bad sign.

In the interim, can’t the government impose stricter measures to contain this localized terrorism?

— Z_Mach (@Z_Machx) April 14, 2025

If Asantehene is equally a “chief” as your tribe’s chief, why are they urging the Asantehene to try and resolve the dispute in Bawku, but not other chiefs? 🤔

King Solomon yɛ powerful if you like it or yes!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

— Nii (@Slim411) April 14, 2025

Not in the capacity to advise Asantehene, Nyamekese. My wish is to see Otumfoɔ staying away from this Bawku conflict resolution, because, the issue has been already politicized and the president of the country John Mahama who’s urging Otumfoɔ to step in has already taken a side.

How on earth are youth in Bawku possessing ammunition stockpiles heavily rival to those of our security machinery.

Where from the guts to shoot at the IGP without fear of repercussions?

WHO IS SUPPLYING THESE GROUPS WITH THE WEAPONS?

The Bawku issue is beyond mediation!

— Clinton K. Yeboah 🇬🇭🇬🇧 (@Qwobbyclinton) April 13, 2025

The government is not looking for Otumfours intervention in the war in Bawku but respect is just given to him because he was a chairman of the house of chiefs.

— Bra Yogurt 🍦 (@OdisikaYogurt) April 13, 2025

Petition from Asante youth should go to Manhyia… Pleading with our King to desist from engaging in the Bawku Conflict.. Let NDC destroy what is left of Ghana.. Such an evil political.. Awudifuo

— Kay (@KayPeezywee) April 13, 2025

The Asantehene SHOULD NOT get involved in the Bawku Issues . The NDC should fix the Mess they created simple 🪄

Asantehene is not in the country now,why must the nation wait for him to return to Ghana before solving the Bawku issue?

What if by the time he returns then na them all die too for der erh

Der r prominent chiefs here in Ghana like Togbe Afede n Dormaahene..they can help for now

— Kwame Nyarko Osafo ❼ (@kwamenyarkoosaf) April 13, 2025

Asantehene is not the King of Ghana….Ghana is not a kingdom so there are no kings in Ghana.

I dunno why both the mamprusis n kusasis n the govt wants Asantehene to solve the Bawku crisis….was he the one that created it?

Asantehene should mind his business pic.twitter.com/GccUuWjdez

— Kwame Nyarko Osafo ❼ (@kwamenyarkoosaf) April 12, 2025

Otumfour and Manhyia this is my humble appeal kindly desist from intervening in the Bawku war because Prez Mahama has already muddy the Waters he took advantage on the situation for Cheap Political Points he has an entrenched Position.🤝
