The event was aimed at fostering unity and development within the Domeabra community
The chiefs and elders of Ngleshie Domeabra have officially sworn in development and planning committee members to ensure the effective governance of the community.
According to the chiefs, Domeabra has been embroiled in protracted litigation for some time, but significant strides have been made to resolve the dispute. As of now, almost all factions have come together to forge a path to protect Domeabra lands and develop the community.
Taking the oath of secrecy, Lawyer Thomas Gblovor, who is also the legal attorney for Domeabra, urged the committee members to remain loyal to the Domeabra state at all times and avoid acting as moles.
“To a large extent, the litigation has subsided, and there is a need to come together as a people. Today, you see members of Domeabra from both factions gathering to smoke the peace pipe,” he noted.
Asafoatse Nii Kojo Kwao III said the event was to foster unity and development, which the community has lacked for many years. According to him, basic amenities like water, a hospital, a police station, a market, and roads have eluded them.
He expressed hope that the people selected for these committees will work for the benefit of everyone in the area.
“There is no water here, yet the Weija Dam is just around us. There is no hospital or market, but today has given us a new chapter to turn things around,” he stated.
The other kingmakers also acknowledged Asafoatse Nii Kojo Kwao III’s remarks, affirming that the only way the community can achieve development is by coming together as a people. Going forward, they have agreed to protect Domeabra lands from all encroachers.
