An independent parliamentary candidate for Nkoranza North in the 2024 parliamentary election, Charles Owusu, has urged President John Mahama to be cautious in trying to reset everything his government considers to be wrong.

According to the former Director of Operations at the Forestry Commission, not everything is possible to reset.

Speaking during a panel discussion on Peace FM on Friday, April 25, 2025, Charles Owusu urged President Mahama to leave certain things as they are in the best interest of the country.

“I have said it once on this platform that I am very happy that President Mahama has returned to power. What makes me excited about his comeback is that he is a president who will not seek re-election. And so, certain things that have gone wrong in this country he can reset and leave a legacy. I will continue to support him because I am a good citizen; I don’t worship political parties.

But respectfully, I want to tell President Mahama that not everything is possible to reset. There are certain things that, for the sake of the unity of the country and its progress, he should not touch. He should allow them to be as they are.”

It is unclear exactly what Charles Owusu does not want the president to touch.

President John Dramani Mahama, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Torkornoo.

According to a statement signed by the Spokesperson to the President and Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the suspension follows the establishment of a prima facie case against the Chief Justice by the President, in consultation with the Council of State, in relation to three petitions filed against Justice Torkornoo.

“President John Dramani Mahama has, in accordance with Article 146(6) of the Constitution and in consultation with the Council of State, determined that a prima facie case has been established in respect of three petitions against the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo,” the statement, dated Tuesday, April 22, 2025, read.
