The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced the start of its post-election 2024 nationwide thank you tour, beginning on Tuesday, April 23.
The tour, which will commence at the party’s headquarters in Accra, will be taken to all 16 regions of Ghana, starting in the Western Region on April 26.
In a statement dated April 21 and signed by the NPP’s National Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye, the party said the tour will feature its 2024 flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and all executives.
“The tour, which was approved by the National Council, is intended to convey the sincere and heartfelt appreciation of the party, the presidential candidate, and the campaign team to the rank-and-file of the party, as well as the general public, for their unwavering support, encouragement, and commitment throughout the 2024 electoral period,” the statement read in part.
Themed “In all things, give thanks to God” (1 Thessalonians 5:18), the party says the tour will climax with national interfaith thanksgiving services involving both Christian and Islamic prayers to foster unity and gratitude.
The NPP urged all its members to take part in the exercise, which will end in the Central Region on June 4.
“We call on all party faithful to actively participate in this important exercise at their respective regional and constituency gathering points, as we collectively honour the dedication and sacrifices that have brought us this far,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, this comes after the party received its election review report from a committee led by Professor Mike Aaron Ocquate which is said to assess the causes of its defeat and offer recommendations.
