The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has referred former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, to its Disciplinary Committee for allegedly defying the party’s directive to avoid public discussions that could cause disaffection.
A statement signed by General Secretary Justin Frimpong Koduah and dated March 20 indicated that Adwoa Safo’s appearance on Accra-based JoyNews’ The Pulse shortly after the directive was a clear violation.
“Her actions are not only in disregard of this directive but also undermine the party’s efforts to rebuild and move forward,” the statement read.
It further cited her failure to comply as a breach of Article 3(5) of the party’s constitution, which mandates members to promote and defend the party’s reputation.
“In breach of the above provision of the party’s constitution and the directives issued earlier, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo is hereby referred to the National Disciplinary Committee of the party for further action,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, speaking on the show, the former MP dismissed the directive, stating that no one can stop her from expressing her views in the media.
