There’s one thing for sure: had yesterday’s genocide at Ablekuma North been under NPP Administration, the jaundiced prepaid media, pseudo-neutrals, ignoramus security experts, political prostitutes and pimps, would’ve, by sustained cacophony, intimidated the president to set up a commission of inquiry.
The sittings would’ve been telecast live, and proceedings further used to demonize the government to whip up public hatred for the president and his government. Today, whenever the talk about election violence comes up, it’s only Ayawaso-West-Wuogon that is mentioned as Alpha and Omega.
Indeed, out of the Ayawaso-West-Wuogon Commission of Inquiry, came out the Vigilante law, Act 999, which outlawed the formation of political party vigilante groups. But as the ruling NPP obeyed and disbanded its own, the opposition ndc had theirs well-constituted and armed-to-the-teeth, for total mayhem.
Violence chronology
But before Ayawaso-West-Wuogon, Ghana has had the total massacre of Chereponi, genocide at Bimbila and Talensi, and the crime against humanity of Akwatia where then ndc candidate Baba Jamal alias Askolondo openly declared a jihad against NPP supporters and issued a fatwa against the party’s observers.
It was during that Akwatia rerun of just 6 polling stations that then-ndc national women’s Organizer Anita Desoso ran her Land cruiser through NPP supporters and top speed, literally shattering bones into smithereens, shredding flesh into minced meat, and turning the main highway into a sea of human blood.
Our party stalwarts at the time, including the Hon. Dan Botchwey who were NPP polling agents during that Akwatia rerun of just 6 polling stations, were ordered to leave their positions by ndc hoodlums, and the police officers present, only told our observers to comply with orders of those thugs!!!
In Chereponi, Bimbila, Talensi and Akwatia masacres perpetrated by ndc hoodlums, there were no calls by anybody or group of people, on government to institute a commission of inquiry to unearth the perpetrators to be dealt with. As a result, when incident of electoral violence is mentioned, it’s “Ayawaso”.
Ablekuma North
Today, the merciless beating of the Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson by ndc hoodlums is being hailed by both the party’s leadership and grassroots members because she supposedly did same to others in the past. By this logic, the battle of retributive beating goes on unabated, with the change of political power.
Martin Kpebu is actually on today’s edition of #keypoints on TV3 Ghana that “until the recommendations of Ayawaso-West-Wuogon commission report have been fully implemented, nobody can be held to account for the massacres that were visited on innocent people at Ablekuma North.
On the same program, Ransford Gyampoh also says “it is normal in our part of the world for violence to be visited on people during elections, because political power comes with juicy dividends”. He is therefore hailing what happened at Ablekuma North, because he is currently benefiting from this logic.
Such warped mindset being shamelessly exhibited by these pseudo-neutrals with their bellies on display at the market place for the highest bidder, goes to cement the fact that, their cacophony over Ayawaso-West-Wuogon isn’t about cry for justice, but purely selfish interests. These are political junkies!
Power treasure
This for me, is a testament to the fact that the NPP neither treasure nor value political power. The understanding of NPP, vis-a-vis political power, is purely governance and not power consolidation. While the President is bent on actualization of his vision, the greedy, selfish and arrogant clique would be fooling.
‘god fathers’
Appointments to juicy appointments become to the preserve of lazy, incompetent, and non-visible dedicated members of the party, but with powerful ‘god fathers’. Those who toiled for power and have the competence but no ‘god fathers’, are left in the lurch to be scorned by family members and pals.
The grassroots members that did all the dirty work on the grounds and in the hinterlands are completely forgotten. Their calls are never responded to, their cries become a nuisance, and their needs a bother. Slay queens become close companions and their ordinary wishes, not critical needs, become command.
In the end, the President’s vision is detailed, his image becomes tarnished, government’s loses direction, the people become dissolutioned, and electoral defeat becomes inevitable since an undeserving opposition would’ve become consequentially attractive, through self-inflicted wounds of government.
Recommendations
Going forward, the party must put in place a proper rewarding system for grassroots members who, notably, do the dirty work for power. The party-government synergy must be solidified, with a crop of National Officers that’ll not be “YES MEN” to the President, but give him the true sentiments of party people.
The President must never fall prey to an infinestemal clique of greedy, selfish, arrogant and obnoxiously stupid influence-peddlers. Those that are privileged to occupy positions, particularly CEOs, must not shut doors in the faces of grassroots members, and welcome slay queens with everlasting open-arms.
The President must not give ear to stupid gossips and outright foolhardiness of self-seeking liars with no interest in his vision for the country, but only their gluttonous bellies. The President must be always open and fully accessible to those that will tell him the bitter truth to make him successful.
NPP SHALL BE BACK.
