The Director of Communications for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has responded to criticisms that the party’s ongoing post-2024 election thank-you tour is misplaced.
According to him, the party is not wrong for expressing gratitude to Ghanaians despite its defeat in the December 2024 general election.
Speaking in an interview on Accra-based JoyPrime’s Prime Morning show on Wednesday, April 30, Mr. Ahiagbah said the tour presents an opportunity for the party to regroup and foster unity.
“It’s important for the party to thank the people, regardless of whether we won. It’s a way of regrouping and uniting the party,” he stated.
Mr. Ahiagbah also defended the legacy of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, arguing that despite criticisms from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), the former President remains mentally sharp.
“Despite the NDC’s propaganda, former President Akufo-Addo remains sharp, but public perception has been clouded,” he noted.
The NPP, led by its national executives and 2024 flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is currently on a nationwide tour.
The exercise, which began on Saturday, April 26, is expected to end on June 4 in the Central Region.
