The Upper West Regional Executive Committee of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has reinstated Martin Wuoyang as the Nandom constituency secretary, pending a written unqualified apology.
Mr. Wuoyang was suspended in March over alleged misconduct, as communicated in a press statement dated March 2, 2025. The suspension was to allow for further investigations and action by the Regional Executive Committee (REC).
His reinstatement follows an REC meeting held on April 27, 2025, where members considered the Disciplinary Committee’s report on a petition for action against him.
According to the statement, the REC unanimously agreed to lift the suspension “pending your submission of a written unqualified apology to the Regional Executive Committee.”
“The Committee arrived at this decision following the show of respect you accorded the Disciplinary Committee and the fact that you showed enough interest in working for the party,” the REC noted.
The move also comes amid calls for the opposition party to grant amnesty for suspended members like Alan Kyeremateng, Paul Afoko and others to return as it seeks to rebuild after its 2024 general elections.
