NSMQ 2025: Parkoso SHS pulls out of Ashanti qualifiers

Parkoso Senior High School has pulled out of the 2025 Ashanti Regional qualifiers of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), claiming it was unaware of its scheduled contest date, despite having participated in the official balloting process months ago.

The school was expected to compete in Contest 8, the first contest of the day, alongside Osei Kyeretwie SHS, Jachie Pramso SHS, and Wesley SHS, Konongo.

According to organisers, Parkoso SHS communicated their withdrawal, claiming that they had not prepared a team due to the lack of awareness about the contest schedule.

Their exit is the first recorded withdrawal since the Ashanti qualifiers began, with seven contests completed so far and fifteen more remaining in the regional competition.

Parkoso SHS had taken part in the balloting exercise that determined the contest pairings months ago.

Despite their absence, Contest 8 will continue with the remaining three schools. The Ashanti Region, known for producing some of the NSMQ’s top contenders, has the largest number of schools competing in the qualifiers, 88 schools, each fighting for a place in the zonal and national championship.
