Osei Tutu Senior High School has sealed a dramatic place in the semifinals of the Ashanti Region Zonal Championship of the 2025 NSMQ after triumphing over Adventist SHS in a thrilling tie-breaker.

Both schools were locked at 23 points apiece at the end of the contest, setting the stage for a sudden-death final question to determine who advances.

As the quiz mistress began reading the tiebreaker “Name the three major agents of seed…” the question had barely ended when Osei Tutu SHS buzzed in with a swift and correct response: wind, animals, and water.

The timely answer sent their supporters into wild jubilation, sealing their place in the semifinals and knocking out a formidable Adventist SHS side.

Earlier in the contest, tension soared during the True or False round (Round Three), when the results were withheld until the final round due to a protest by Kumasi Wesley Girls’ SHS.

The school contested a decision by the quiz consultant, arguing that their answer ruled incorrect was in fact valid. Despite the consultant standing by his ruling, the teachers insisted on a direct engagement to seek clarity before results could be finalised.

At the end of the contest, Osei Tutu SHS and Adventist SHS, Bantama, were tied at 23 points, with Osei Tutu eventually winning the tie-breaker.

Kumasi Wesley Girls’ High School followed closely with 20 points, while Konongo-Odumase SHS finished with 18 points.
