The Royal Family of Odau, in collaboration with elders and kingmakers, has officially announced the forthcoming enstoolment of a new Twafohene, Nana Osei Afrifa, under the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Monday, July 7, 2025, in Odau—a proud sub-community within the Akyem Abuakwa state.

In a statement released by the family, the soon-to-be enstooled chief is described as a beloved son, uncle, and leader, whose life has been marked by humility, wisdom, and an unwavering respect for tradition.

His ascension is seen not just as a personal honor, but as a communal blessing—ushering in a new era of leadership rooted in cultural integrity and service.

The title of Twafohene, a senior sub-chieftaincy role, is historically reserved for individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, moral standing, and dedication to the welfare of their people.

The Twafohene plays a vital role in the traditional governance structure, supporting the Okyenhene (Paramount Chief of Akyem Abuakwa) in the preservation of customary law, conflict resolution, and socio-economic development initiatives.

According to the family, preparations for the ceremony are already underway, with traditional authorities, community members, and well-wishers expected to converge in Odau to witness the rites and rituals that will affirm the legitimacy of the enstoolment.

The event is expected to be both a solemn cultural exercise and a vibrant celebration of heritage.

“This sacred ceremony will mark a significant chapter in the rich cultural history of Odau and Akyem Abuakwa at large,” the statement read. “It symbolizes not only the continuity of our traditions but also the collective hopes of a people ready to move forward in unity and purpose.”

The enstoolment comes at a time when traditional leadership across Ghana is increasingly being called upon to play active roles in community development and youth empowerment.

The Odau Royal Family expressed confidence that their chosen Twafohene will rise to the occasion—bridging generations and fostering inclusive growth.

Further details of the ceremony, including the official regnal name of the enstooled chief and the lineup of activities, are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
