The Regimental Band of Our Lady Providence Girls Senior High School (OLP Girls SHS) in the Jaman South Municipality of the Bono Region has been adjudged the winner of the sixth National Music and Drill Competition organised by the National Cadet Corps Ghana (NCCG).

The school qualified for the coveted national competition, which took place at the 48 Engineer Regiment Square in Accra on Saturday, June 28, 2025, after emerging winners of the Regional Sector Competition in Kumasi on May 10, 2025.

The event, which brought together talented bandsmen from various Senior High Schools across the country, each showcasing their musical prowess and creativity while competing for top honours with pride and passion through spirited and disciplined performances, was graced by dignitaries from the Ghanaian military, government officials, and other stakeholders.

The 2025 edition, under the theme: “Re-emerging Youth: Reflecting on Discipline and Loyalty to Country – A Call to Review and Reset”, saw competing bandsmen deliver outstanding performances that captivated and thrilled both judges and audience.

Competing schools were Prempeh College, Our Lady of Providence Girls Senior High School, Amaniampong Senior High School, Oyoko Methodist Senior High School, Accra Girls Senior High School, Afua Kobi Senior High School, Presbyterian Boys Senior High School, St. Monica’s Senior High School, Achimota Senior High School, Kumasi High School, and Kumasi Senior High Technical School.

After a vibrant display of drill precision, rhythm, showmanship, and musical excellence, Our Lady of Providence Girls Senior High School emerged as the Champion Band, followed by Kumasi Senior High School and Accra Girls Senior High School in second and third place, respectively.

Other prestigious awards picked by the school were Best Music Director, which was awarded to Sampson Frimpong in recognition of his outstanding leadership, creativity, and commitment to musical excellence, and Best Drum Major to Harriet Taagan for her exceptional skill, precision, and dedication in guiding her band to a stellar performance.

The annual National Cadet Corps Music Competition aims to promote patriotism, civic responsibility, and leadership values among Ghanaian youth.
