The Minister for Communication, Digitalization and Innovations, Mr Samuel Nartey George, has disclosed his intentions to expand the One Million Coders program to two million participants, especially students at universities and institutions in Ghana.

The One Million Coders Program, which has attracted 50,000 applications, has the potential to drive digital transformation and innovation in Ghana.

He revealed this during a meeting with a delegation from Tony Blair Institute to seek strategic support and partnership in technology, data governance and innovation last Friday in Accra.

The Minister stated that he was seeking partnerships with organizations including ALX, Google, and Mastercard Foundation to provide training and resources.

“The program’s focus on in-person training sessions and rigorous certification processes aims to ensure international standards and attract Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) opportunities,” he said.

Mr. George noted that the One Million Coders program aligns with Ghana’s vision for a digital future, promoting economic growth, innovation and job creation.

“With its impressive start, the program is poised to make a significant impact on the country’s digital landscape,” he added.

The delegation led by the Country Director, Mr Sam Mensah-Baah, reaffirmed the Tony Blair Institutes continued collaboration with the Government of Ghana and the Minister in delivering the President’s AI and Digital Transformation Agenda.
