A solemn one-week observance has been held for the late Comfort Ampah, beloved wife of Richard Takyi Mensah, the Central Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), who has served diligently in that role for over eight years.

The ceremony took place at the St Anthony Catholic Church in Agona Swedru in the Central Region, drawing a large crowd of mourners, including political dignitaries, family, friends, and sympathisers from across the country.

Comfort Ampah, aged 40, passed away after battling a protracted illness. Her passing has left a deep void not only in her family but also among those who knew her as a kind-hearted and devoted mother and wife. The couple was blessed with three children.

Richard Takyi Mensah, widely regarded as a pillar in the NPP, played a crucial role in the party’s historic victory in the 2016 general elections. His tireless work and strategic leadership at the grassroots level have made him a respected figure within the party’s ranks and beyond.

The event saw the attendance of several high-profile personalities, including former Minister of Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah; Former Central Regional Minister, Justina Marigold Assan; former Chief Executive Officer of the Pensions Regulatory Authority John Mbroh; former Minister of Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah; veteran politician Stephen Asamoah Boateng, and the Chief Executive of the Ideal Group of Companies, Dr Joseph Asebu.

Preaching the sermon, Father Eugene delivered a moving message inspired by the life of Bonaventure.

He urged the congregation not to rely solely on what they have heard about God but rather to lean on their personal experiences with Him. According to Father Eugene, God embodies three essential attributes: Goodness, Truthfulness, and Beauty.

He explained that God’s goodness is ever-present, even in times of pain and sorrow.

He added that God is Truthful, and anyone who seeks to walk with Him must live a life of truth. Lastly, he emphasised that God is Beautiful, and in every season — whether in joy or in mourning — “God does all things beautifully.”

Father Eugene encouraged mourners not to question why Comfort Ampah had to die at such a young age, but rather to trust in God’s higher purpose and plan.

The final funeral rites for Comfort Ampah have been scheduled for the 26th of July 2025 at Agona Swedro, where family and friends will gather again to celebrate her life and bid her a final farewell.

May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
