The President of the Armwrestling Federation of Africa (AFA), Charles Osei Asibey, is set to embark on a 4-day working visit to South Africa as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and promote the development of Armwrestling on the continent.

During his visit, President Asibey will meet with key stakeholders in South African sports, including the Minister for Sports and Culture, the National Olympic Committee (NOC), the Sports Commission, the South African Armwrestling Federation, and other stakeholders.

The meetings are aimed at exploring opportunities for the development of Armwrestling in Africa, promoting the sport, and creating opportunities for African athletes to compete at the highest level. President Osei Asibey will also share his vision for the growth and development of Armwrestling in Africa and discuss ways to strengthen the sport’s governing body on the continent.

In addition to his meetings with sports stakeholders, President Osei Asibey will also take the opportunity to visit the Multichoice House, where he will have meetings with SuperSport, Africa’s leading sports broadcaster. The meetings with SuperSport are aimed at exploring opportunities for broadcasting Armwrestling events and promoting the sport to a wider audience across Africa.

Furthermore, President Osei Asibey will be the guest of honor at the 2025 National Armwrestling Championship of South Africa, scheduled to take place on April 4 and 5. The championship will bring together the best armwrestlers from across South Africa, and President Osei Asibey’s presence is expected to add excitement and prestige to the event.

“South Africa is a pit and sanctuary for Armwrestling. We are excited about this visit and the opportunities it presents for the growth and development of Armwrestling in Africa,” said President Osei Asibey. “We believe that by working together with key stakeholders, including sports broadcasters like SuperSport, we can promote the sport, create opportunities for our athletes, and strengthen the AFA’s position as the governing body for Armwrestling in Africa.”

President Osei Asibey’s 4-day visit to South Africa is expected to yield fruitful discussions and outcomes that will benefit the sport of Armwrestling in Africa.

Whilst in South Africa, the President of the Armwrestling Federation of Africa (AFA) and Ghana Armwrestling Federation will call on the Ghana High Commission in Pretoria.
