A group of dismissed staff of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), operating under the name Concerned Revoked GRA Appointees Group, is calling on President John Dramani Mahama to intervene in what they describe as the unjust revocation of their appointments, despite being lawfully recruited before the December 7, 2024 general elections.
In a statement dated July 1, 2025, the group said their recruitment was conducted in line with public service regulations and well ahead of the presidential directive that all appointments made after December 7, 2024, be annulled.
According to them, all supporting documents—including dated appointment letters and correspondence with both the GRA and auditing firm KPMG—clearly confirm that their employment process began in September 2024 and concluded by December 2024.
“Our appointments were unjustly revoked, rendering us jobless through no fault of our own. Many of us relocated from distant regions and made major personal and financial commitments in anticipation of serving the nation through the GRA,” the group stated.
The affected individuals say their dismissal has plunged their families into “avoidable economic hardship and emotional distress,” especially as many were primary breadwinners. They blame the decision on “unfair politicisation” of their recruitment, insisting they were neither unqualified nor improperly selected.
They have since submitted formal petitions to multiple state institutions including the Office of the President, the Public Services Commission, the Ministries of Finance and Labour, and the Ghana Revenue Authority itself. However, they say none of these efforts has yielded a “meaningful and promising resolution.”
Citing a recent precedent by the Bank of Ghana—which reinstated similarly affected recruits—the group called on the government to apply the same fairness and restore their jobs.
“This issue transcends political affiliations. It is about justice, livelihoods, and the dignity of young Ghanaians who met all the criteria to serve,” the statement said.
In a direct appeal to President Mahama, they pleaded for urgent intervention.
“As the father of the nation, we trust in his commitment to fairness and the rule of law. We humbly ask that he instructs the relevant authorities (GRA) to reinstate those of us who were lawfully appointed but unfairly dismissed,” the group added.
Signed by Yaw Bawuah Bandoh on behalf of the affected appointees, the group insisted they are “not seeking favours—only fairness and the opportunity to contribute our skills to the development of Ghana.”
