The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has revealed that 97,421 students have been reimbursed under the government’s “No Fees Stress” initiative, a key programme designed to eliminate financial obstacles to education.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu reaffirmed the government’s resolve to ensure equal access to education by removing the burden of fees from students and their families.
“The ‘No Fees Stress’ programme is a testament to our promise of making education truly accessible. As of today, 97,421 students have received reimbursements, and we are working to ensure that all eligible students benefit fully from the initiative,” he stated.
He explained that the reimbursements are being issued to students who had to pay fees upfront due to delays in the release of government funding. According to him, this is part of a larger effort to ease the financial pressure that often disrupts academic progress for many students, particularly in tertiary institutions.
The Minister also disclosed that new digital systems are being rolled out to streamline the reimbursement process, making it faster and more transparent. This, he said, would ensure that future disbursements are delivered without delay or confusion.
The “No Fees Stress” initiative, introduced as a cornerstone of the government’s education relief framework, is aimed at supporting students and parents in managing the high cost of tertiary education. It reflects the administration’s wider commitment to inclusive and quality education across Ghana.
