A message from him read:
CONGRATULATIONS TO RICHARD AKPOKAVIE ON YOUR ELECTION AS PRESIDENT OF THE GHANA OLYMPIC COMMITTEE.
It is time to reset, rebrand, and transform the mindset of the sports family — aligning with the sports business model that demands discipline, credibility, and professionalism.
To the delegates and the entire Ghana Olympic Family: you are the true winners. Your choice of leadership reflects a bold move away from biases and a strong commitment to a brighter, united future.
I have witnessed a GOC election that chose the future over sycophancy and treachery.
Special congratulations to my good friends, Secretary General Muniru Kassim and President-Elect Richard Akpokavie.
Also, congratulations to Evans Yeboah, elected Treasurer of the Ghana Olympic Committee and Vice President of the Ghana Paralympic Committee.
Now is the time to unite the Olympic Family and work with everyone to build a stronger, more credible sporting nation.
Well done to all!
