Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, is calling on former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to step in and help calm the growing tensions within the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
His appeal comes amid escalating internal wrangling and factional disputes within the party, particularly in the lead-up to the January 2026 presidential primaries. Boamah believes that the moral authority and experience of the two former leaders can help steer the party away from further division and bring unity back to its ranks.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Point of View on Monday, June 23, the MP said the NPP, having produced two presidents, must not allow infighting to derail its legacy.
“This party has produced two presidents. We are fortunate to have two former presidents alive,” Boamah stated.
“I am calling them to call for some action and order in the party because this party produced them. If we are going through this turmoil, we ask that they call people round the table and have a heart-to-heart chat with them.”
Boamah stressed that the NPP is at a critical crossroads and needs trusted voices to intervene before the internal discord deepens. His comments follow weeks of public disagreement among party figures, raising concerns about unity and direction as the party prepares to regroup for the 2028 general elections.
He urged party elders and stakeholders not to remain silent, warning that failure to resolve the growing tensions could have long-term consequences for the NPP’s cohesion and electoral future.
