Pecan Energies awards full scholarships to 20 students under Inspire Programme

Pecan Energies, in partnership with Lukoil Overseas Ghana Tano Limited, the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), and Fueltrade Limited, has awarded full scholarships to 20 outstanding students for the 2024/2025 academic year under its flagship Pecan Inspire Scholarship Programme (PISP).

Launched in 2020, PISP has so far supported 161 students with comprehensive scholarships to pursue tertiary education in Ghana, with a strong focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and related fields.

The scholarship package includes:

Full tuition and accommodation

A laptop for academic work

Semester stipends

Access to student development programmes, including career and skills training

Mentorship and academic advising

PISP is a core component of Pecan Energies’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, providing life-changing educational opportunities to bright students from low-income backgrounds.

This year’s awards are particularly significant, coinciding with the graduation of the first-ever cohort of PISP beneficiaries—a powerful testament to the programme’s long-term impact.

Another major milestone this year is the achievement of gender parity among recipients for the first time: 50% of the beneficiaries are female, and 50% are male.

“This milestone reaffirms our commitment to ensuring equal access to education and empowering both young men and women to reach their full potential,” said Kadijah Amoah, Chief Executive Officer of Pecan Energies Ghana Limited.

Among the newly awarded scholars is Edward Tendeh, who had to postpone his tertiary education to support his mother, a fishmonger, and his four siblings after his father’s absence.

Now studying Chemical Engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Edward expressed his gratitude: “This is more than an opportunity—it is a promise.

“A promise that no matter where we come from or how difficult the road has been, we have the power to rise above our circumstances.

“Pecan Energies has not only invested in our education but in our futures, our communities, and the generations to come.”

Owned by the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), Pecan Energies remains committed to value creation. The Pecan Inspire Scholarship Programme continues to demonstrate how corporate investment in education can drive sustainable, long-term national development.
