The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old Cameroonian national, Bella Merie, for allegedly orchestrating an internet fraud scheme and human trafficking.

The suspect is alleged to have defrauded 43 victims, comprising 32 males and 11 females, using Q-NET.

According to preliminary investigations by the police, Bella duped the victims of a total sum of 4.5 million CFA Francs under the pretense of securing employment opportunities for them.

She was arrested together with the victims who are also believed to be Cameroonians, aged between 22 and 30.

They were apprehended at a residence located at Kenyasi Abrem in the Ashanti Region on Monday, April 7.

In a statement, the Police reiterated their commitment to fighting fraud and protecting the safety and welfare of both citizens and foreign nationals in the country.

The suspects have since been handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service for necessary immigration processes and repatriation to their home country.
