Police Hospital plans mass burial for unclaimed bodies on February 28

The Ghana Police Hospital has announced plans for a mass burial of approximately 200 unclaimed bodies currently in its mortuary scheduled for the first quarter of 2025, the exercise aims to decongest the facility and improve storage conditions.

The Police Hospital is calling on families of missing persons to visit the hospital’s pathology department to identify and claim their deceased relatives before the February 28, 2025, deadline.

Any bodies remaining unclaimed after this date will be included in the burial.

Similar measures are being taken elsewhere, with the Police Hospital in Bogoso, Western Region, set to bury seven unclaimed bodies that have been in its mortuary for 20 months.
