Police probe alleged kidnapping and assault in viral video sparking outrage

The Ghana Police Service has launched a probe into a suspected case of kidnapping and assault involving a woman, following the circulation of a disturbing video that has triggered public alarm.

The short but graphic footage, which quickly went viral across social media platforms, shows a distressed woman in an apparent state of duress, prompting widespread concern and urgent calls for justice.

In response, the Police released a statement on Tuesday, April 29, confirming that investigations are underway.

“The Ghana Police Service is investigating an alleged case of kidnapping and assault of a female adult captured in a viral video. We assure the public that we are working around the clock to get to the bottom of the matter and get those behind it arrested,” the statement read.

Although specifics of the case remain unclear, the Police have indicated that they are thoroughly analysing the video evidence and working to identify those involved.

They have also appealed to the public for assistance, urging anyone with credible information to step forward and support the investigation.

Authorities say further details will be shared as the investigation progresses.
