Pregnant victim loses baby in Amanase accident

A pregnant woman who was part of the victims who survived the ghastly Amanase accident, which claimed 11 lives on the spot on the Accra Kumasi Highway, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 has lost her baby.

Ultrasound scans conducted by health professionals who attended to her moments she arrived at the Suhum Government Hospital revealed that the baby had died due to the severity of the impact.

According to the health professionals, arrangements were quickly made for the woman to be sent to the theatre to be operated on, as she also had a degloving injury of the skull.

Arrangements are currently underway to transfer one of the two individuals who are in critical condition to the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua.

Dr. Ama Afriyie, the Medical Officer in charge of the emergency ward at the Suhum Government Hospital, briefed the Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Awatey, on the current medical conditions of all the victims on admission.

“We’re referring them to Koforidua hospital,” she said.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Awatey, donated an amount of GHC 5,000 to the hospital management for the initial treatment of all victims.

She charged the health professionals to ensure they provide everything needed to sustain those on admission as the RCC remains committed to cater for all expenses in the absence of family members.
