The Prempeh College 2000 Year Group, popularly known as Millennium Amanfoo, officially launched its 25th anniversary celebration on Friday at the J.A. Kufuor Auditorium on the school’s premises in Kumasi.
The event, themed “Rooted in ‘Suban’, Blooming with ‘Nimdeɛ’: Celebrating 25 Years of Millennium Amanfoo Excellence,” underscored the group’s commitment to character (suban) and knowledge (nimdeɛ), reflecting the values and cultural heritage of Prempeh College that have driven their achievements across various fields.
The launch was graced by distinguished guests, including Nana Yaw Akuoko, Otumfuo Assinhene, Sepaase, and Nana Kwakye Abamono Ababio, Otumfuo Nnibihene, both proud members of Millennium Amanfoo, who served as Special Guests of Honour.
The event was hosted by Snr Yaw Adu-Gyamfi, Chairman of Millennium Amanfoo’s Northern Branch, with James Owusu Achiaw, Assistant Headmaster (Academics), current students, and group members in attendance.
In his address, Snr Roland Kwadwo Akomeah, Global President of Millennium Amanfoo, highlighted the group’s legacy project: the extension and rehabilitation of the school’s canopy walkway. Snr Daniel Agyei, a member of the Technical Committee, provided an overview of the project, while Snr Atta Kutin-Boateng Sr., from the Fundraising Committee, announced the project’s budget of GH₵1.5 million ($100,000) and led a fundraising appeal.
The appeal yielded pledges totaling GH₵110,000, with additional undisclosed contributions.
Snr René Buer Plahar, Vice President and Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, outlined the planned activities and timelines before officially launching the anniversary celebration.
The event concluded with closing remarks and a vote of thanks by Snr Stephen Adjei-Donkor, a 2000 Assistant Senior School Prefect, who shared nostalgic memories of his prefectship and urged support for the anniversary.
Attendees participated in a walk on the canopy walkway, engaged with students at the Dining Hall, and visited the historic Osae Assembly Hall, evoking fond memories of their time at Prempeh College. The 25th anniversary celebration promises to be a milestone in celebrating Millennium Amanfoo’s legacy and contributions to their alma mater and society.
