President Mahama commends Finance Minister and BoG Governor for economic recovery efforts

President John Dramani Mahama has praised the collaborative efforts of Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama, crediting their coordination as instrumental in Ghana’s ongoing economic recovery.

Speaking at a durbar of chiefs and people at Wa Jubilee Park on Thursday, May 15, during his thank-you tour in the Upper West Region, President Mahama acknowledged their pivotal roles in stabilizing the economy following his victory in the 2024 general elections.

“I wish to commend the Honorable Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Bank of Ghana along with their teams for the close collaboration and coordination they are displaying in this economic turnaround,” Mahama stated.

The President expressed hope that the economic gains made so far would be sustained and further strengthened in the coming months.

“I am sure that by the time the Honorable Minister comes back to Parliament to present his mid-year review budget in August, we will have even more good news for Ghanaians,” he added.

Mahama’s comments come at a time when the appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi and other encouraging indicators are fueling optimism about the nation’s economic future. Analysts have pointed to improved fiscal management and monetary coordination as contributing factors to the renewed confidence among stakeholders and institutions.
