President John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that the One Million Coders program is a strategic pillar in his efforts to reset Ghana’s agenda with digital skills.
The One Million Coders program, launched under the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, aims to train one million Ghanaians in essential digital skills.
Speaking during the launch on Wednesday in Accra, he stated that this initiative represents a deliberate attempt to invest in the future of Ghanaian youth through technology and innovation.
“By equipping young people with coding abilities, the program prepares them for the future job market and empowers them to drive Ghana’s digital transformation and economic growth,” the President said.
He emphasized that the One Million Coders Program encompasses more than just technical skills; it has the potential to transform lives and boost economic development.
The President noted that digital literacy is increasingly crucial in today’s economy, where technological proficiency can significantly impact success.
The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Mr. Samuel Nartey George, emphasized that the One Million Coders program is a flagship initiative of the Mahama-led administration.
He affirmed the government’s commitment to empowering youth and bridging the digital divide, particularly for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.
