President John Dramani Mahama has extended a heartfelt Mother’s Day message to his Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, while providing an update on her recovery from a recent illness.

In a post shared on social media on May 11, 2025, President Mahama revealed that he paid a visit to Prof. Opoku-Agyemang earlier in the day and expressed warm wishes in honour of the mothers’ occasion.

“A special Mother’s Day greeting to my Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, whom I had the pleasure of visiting earlier this morning,” he wrote.

“She is taking a well-deserved rest after recovering from illness,” he added.

He also commended the vice president’s resilience and expressed optimism about her return to official duties: “Looking forward to resuming her duties soon,” he noted.

President Mahama also used the opportunity to celebrate mothers across the country, stating: “To her and all Ghanaian mothers, I say Happy Mother’s Day.”

Vice President Opoku-Agyemang began a three-week medical break on April 7, 2025, following health concerns that arose in recent weeks. She initially received care at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) before traveling abroad for further treatment.

Her recent recovery and appearance mark a positive development in her health status as she prepares to gradually resume her duties.
