Press Secretary to the Vice President, Ama Pratt, has explained that the few promises yet to be fulfilled by President John Dramani Mahama within his first 120 days in office are due to constitutional and bureaucratic constraints.
Speaking on GHOne TV’s State of Affairs on Wednesday, May 7, she said some delays in implementation stem from legal requirements that take time to address.
“Yes, there are few things that are still in progress. Some of the instances, these are things that require, you know, sometimes change of law… but overall, I would say that he’s even exceeded expectation,” she said.
Ama Pratt noted that despite these challenges, the President has so far exceeded expectations since taking office on January 7, 2025.
She praised Mahama’s commitment to building a lean but efficient government, noting that he is delivering results with fewer ministers than promised.
“He said 60, we are operating on 56, right? Let’s pause on that for a minute. This country is running on 56 ministers. It hasn’t happened, you know, in our recent history,” she said.
“As soon as he won the election, he immediately went full force, named the ministers. They went to vetting with the speed of lightning, everybody’s working,” he added.
