Prof Dzakadzie never resigned from NPP – Makafui Kofi Woanyah

The Volta Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Makafui Kofi Woanyah, has indicated that the embattled Prof Yayra Dzakadzie never resigned from the NPP.

According to him, it is unfortunate for Prof Dzakadzie and his cohorts to attempt to mislead the public, exhibiting traits of greed and ingratitude towards President Akufo-Addo and the NPP.

“Prof Dzakadzie should be seen as a dangerous element if he wants to go on this tangent, because you have been part of this party and enjoyed all the goodies and now wants to reject it because it is in opposition?”, he said in a rejoinder copied to Myjoyonline.com.

He explained that the letter being circulated in social and traditional media was a doctored copy of the actual letter tendered to his office in August 2020.

He said that Prof Dzakadzie only stated his intentions to withdraw from the NPP parliamentary primary race in the Anlo Constituency for unknown reasons in the letter, and didn’t utter a word about resigning from the party.

He questioned why Prof Dzakadzie would wish the party well in the letter if he really wanted to exit the NPP.

Mr. Woanyah said that in the original letter, Prof Dzakedzie started that “’I, Yayra Dzakadzie, write to formally inform your good office that I do not intend to contest as a candidate in the parliamentary primaries in Anlo Constituency anymore.’”

Whereas the doctored letter stated that “’I, Yayra Drakadzie, write to formally inform your good office that I do not intend to contest as a candidate in the parliamentary primaries in Anlo Constituency anymore and give notice of my resignation from the party.”

“So, looking at the content of both letters, Prof Dzakadzie and his people are only trying to mislead the public in order to gain political favors from the governing NDC. He never tendered a resignation letter but a letter indicating his withdrawal from the parliamentary primaries”, Mr. Woanyah further explained.

Mr. Woanyah questioned why President Akufo-Addo would appoint Prof Dzakadzie as the Director of Tertiary Education at the Ministry of Education, Deputy Director General for the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and subsequently as the Director-General of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) in 2024, if he had truly resigned from the NPP in August 2020.

He expressed anguish at the attempt by Prof Dzakadzie to denounce the NPP after meriting such appointments from President Akufo-Addo, scheming to find favors from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and President Mahama.

He condemned the act and requested Prof Dzakadzie to desist from such “mischievous acts”, which would tarnish his reputation, academic and political career.
