President John Dramani Mahama has announced that Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, will resume her official duties following a period of medical leave and full recovery soon.

Addressing a crowd at Dodowa, during a recent Thank You Tour, the president stated; “Bringing you greetings from Her Excellency the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang. I’m happy to state that I spoke to her yesterday morning, and she’ll be back in the country before the end of next week. By God’s grace, she’s fully recovered and will return to her duties.”

He added, “It is with deep humility and heartfelt gratitude that I stand before you today, here in Dodowa, in the Greater Accra Region, as part of my national tour, bringing you greetings once again from the vice president. I’m happy to share this good news with you.”

Prof Opoku-Agyemang was reported to have suffered a sudden illness on Friday, March 28, 2025, and subsequently sought medical attention at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).

According to reports, medical experts at UGMC advised her to seek further treatment abroad as a precautionary measure to support her full recovery.

Following the recommendation, Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang commenced a three-week medical leave on April 7, 2025.
