PTA to be re-introduced into our educational system – Haruna Iddrisu

The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has announced that the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) will be reintegrated into the management of education in Ghana.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) under the previous government limited the influence of PTAs in the school management system through the suspension of PTA levies in 2019 following the introduction of the Free Senior High School.

This partly occurred after it emerged that some school heads were abusing the PTA system.

Speaking at a public forum, the minister highlighted the importance of PTAs in ensuring community involvement in the the management of schools.

“I am particularly happy to announce that the PTA will be brought back to improve the educational system in Ghana.”

He further emphasised that, under the leadership of President Mahama, the PTA will play a crucial role in fostering collaboration between parents and teachers.

“This partnership, he noted, aims to improve learning outcomes in schools and ensure that the education system produces quality human capital for the country’s future “he concluded.
