PTAAM-AFRICA to petition Mahama for Kissi Agyebeng’s dismissal

The Positive Transparency and Accountability Movement-AFRICA (PTAAM-AFRICA) has hinted at plans to petition President John Dramani Mahama for the dismissal of the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng.

The pressure group is accusing the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) of misconduct following a recent invasion of the premises of Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML).

The OSP is currently in the advanced stages of its investigation into a controversial contract between SML and the government.

The operation, which aimed to access electronic data stored on the company’s servers as part of efforts to build a solid case, took place on Monday, June 10, and led to the arrest of three directors of the company.

It was conducted by operatives from the OSP with support from the National Security Secretariat, under the authority of a court order.

Reacting to the development in a social media post on Sunday, June 22, President of PTAAM-AFRICA, Ebenezer Havor, accused the OSP of actions that could result in financial loss to the state.

“I will soon be calling on President Mahama to sack the OSP if he doesn’t stop making these malicious statements. The invasion on SML’s office could result in financial loss,” he wrote.

He also urged the OSP to transfer the case involving former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to another state agency if it lacks the capacity to manage it.

“If you can’t undertake the investigation on Ken Ofori-Atta, hand everything over to EOCO! From: PTAAM-AFRICA!” Havor stated.
