Pure FM temporarily off-Air after fire guts Kumasi studios

A fire outbreak has destroyed two key offices of Kumasi-based Pure FM, including its main studio and production room, forcing the station to go off-air.

Studio equipment such as cameras, microphones, computers, air conditioners, and other essential items were severely damaged. However, four other offices and the three-storey building housing the station were saved.

Divisional Officer II Peter Addai, Ashanti Regional PRO of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), confirmed that no casualties were recorded. The GNFS received the distress call at 8:57 p.m. and arrived at the scene at 9:19 p.m., where the fire had been partially extinguished by the public using portable extinguishers.

The crew, led by ADO II Sako, fully contained the fire and prevented it from spreading to adjacent structures.

Mr. George Amoah, Ashanti West Regional General Manager of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), expressed shock at the incident and praised Pure FM’s role in promoting public safety and ECG education. He pledged ECG’s support to the station during this challenging time.
