Black Satellites head coach Desmond Ofei says the team’s primary goal at the ongoing 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is to reach the final.
Ghana remain unbeaten in the tournament so far, having drawn 1-1 with DR Congo in their opener before edging defending champions Senegal 1-0 in their second group match.
While a semifinal spot would secure Ghana a place at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile—their first since 2015—Coach Ofei insists that the team is aiming even higher.
“Reaching the final is the ultimate goal and the reason we’re here,” he said. “We have incredible players who are still growing into the tournament. Every opponent is a threat, but we believe in our ability to achieve our objective.”
Ghana have already secured a spot in the quarterfinals after favorable results elsewhere in the group stage. They will wrap up their Group C campaign against the Central African Republic.
