Rev. Ntim Fordjour says he has not been served defamation suit filed by Dafeamekpor

Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South, says he is yet to receive formal notice of a defamation lawsuit filed against him by his colleague, the MP for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor.

His response comes in the wake of legal action initiated by Mr. Dafeamekpor, who claims a recent social media post by Rev. Ntim Fordjour has caused significant harm to his reputation.

The case centers around a post published by Rev. Ntim Fordjour on May 8, 2025, on the platform X (formerly Twitter). In the post, he alleged that Mr. Dafeamekpor—who also holds the position of Majority Chief Whip—served as Vice Chairman of the Subsidiary Legislation Committee during a period in which Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former head of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), allegedly paid GH¢360,000 to the committee to influence the passage of a Legislative Instrument (L.I.).

Adu-Boahene, who is defending himself against accusations of embezzling GH¢49.1 million, claimed that MPs on the Defence and Interior Committee and the Subsidiary Legislation Committee received payments of GH¢960,000 and GH¢309,000, respectively, as allowances related to the approval of the NSB Act and its accompanying L.I.

In a press statement issued on May 16, 2025, Rev. Ntim Fordjour said he has not been officially served with court documents regarding the defamation suit. He welcomed the legal process, stating he was ready to respond and prove that the lawsuit is without merit.

“Media reports of a suit supposedly filed by my colleague Honourable Member of Parliament for South Dayi. Mr. Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor has come to my attention.

“I have, however, not been served with any such suit. I, therefore, await the service of the supposed suit and will demonstrate that it is of no merit,” he stated.
