The Minority Caucus in Parliament has demanded full disclosure from the National Security over the contents of two private jets accused of carrying cocaine and substantial quantities of cash through Ghana.
At a press conference addressed by Assin South MP and former Deputy Education Minister Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, the Minority expressed concerns over the arrival and departure of Air Med Flight N823AM and Cavok Air Antonov 12B, both of which landed at Kotoka International Airport in March 2025.
According to the Minority, evidence indicates that the aircraft, which arrived from Grand Canaria, Spain, a notorious drug trafficking hotspot, may have carried illicit goods.
“The Minority Caucus calls on National Security to, as a matter of urgency, make public the content of cargo suspected to be cocaine and cash transported into the country by two suspicious flights, namely Air Med Flight N823AM and Cavok Air Antonov 12B, which landed on the tarmac of Kotoka International Airport in March 2025 and departed to the same Grand Canaria days after arrival,” the MP stated.
The Air Med Flight N823AM, an air ambulance designed to transport patients, he noted, purportedly landed in Accra on March 20, 2025, but remained in the country for five days with no records of patient transfers.
“Our intelligence further persists that no patient was transported by the said Air Med Flight, neither to nor from Accra. There is no evidence of medical referral or patients onboard the flight on either leg of the journey,” he stressed.
Similarly, the Cavok Air Antonov 12B, a private jet, landed from Grand Canaria on March 12, and stayed for 13 days before departing at 6:40 a.m. on March 25, the same day the Air Med flight left for Grand Canaria.
The Minority questioned the coincidence of two aircraft departing for the same destination on the same day, raising concerns about their cargo.
“While it is intriguing that the two suspicious flights would depart to the same location on the same day, even more intriguing is the cargo suspiciously transported by these aircraft to and from Grand Canaria, an island known for its notoriety in drug trafficking and money laundering,” Reverend Fordjour emphasized.
He demands that National Security reveal the contents of the aircraft’s cargo, both upon arrival in Ghana and departure for Grand Canaria.
According to them, transparency is crucial in the fight against drug trafficking and money laundering.
