Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, for living a flamboyant lifestyle just after the government’s 120 days in office.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, the National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, otherwise known as Nana B, alleged that Sammy Gyamfi now uses US dollars instead of the local currency, the Ghana cedi.
“It may have escaped many observers of this unfortunate incident, but not only was Mr Sammy Gyamfi giving out United States dollars without restraint, but he also engaged in painted opulence just after 120 days in government.
“On the day in question, Mr Gyamfi was being driven in a 2025 Range Rover Autobiography valued at $350,000,” he said.
He also described as extravagant, the conditions of service enjoyed by Gyamfi in his role as CEO of the Gold Board.
“It is palpable unethical and a complete betrayal of the public trust for Mr Sammy Gyamfi to receive all these benefits on the back of helping maintain a steady currency, yet failed to have any iota of confidence in the Ghana cedi to the extent of using the US Dollars of daily use,” he stated.
His comments follow a viral video that captured Sammy Gyamfi handing US dollar notes to Evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, known as Nana Agradaa.
Meanwhile, the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has stated that the government has taken into account concerns raised about the public regarding the recent conduct of Sammy Gyamfi.
Sammy Gyamfi has also apologised for the incident.
