Samuel Boadu sets sights on FA Cup glory with Berekum Chelsea

Berekum Chelsea head coach Samuel Boadu has his eyes firmly set on winning the MTN FA Cup, an achievement he believes would mark a historic moment for Bono Ahafo.

Chelsea, currently 10th in the Ghana Premier League with 38 points, have reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup and will face Kumasi Asante Kotoko on May 11, 2025, at the Tarkwa TNA Stadium.

Speaking to Kankam Boadu on “The BKB Show,” Boadu admitted that chasing the league title is now unrealistic, shifting his full focus to the FA Cup.

“Looking at the current league table, winning the league will be tough, so my focus is solely on the FA Cup match against Kotoko,” Boadu stated.
“I want to bring the FA Cup trophy home for Berekum Chelsea. Kotoko is a strong side we recently played them and they beat us  but I can’t allow us to lose to them twice. We’ll win, reach the finals, and lift the trophy,” he added.

Boadu also emphasized the significance of returning to CAF inter-club competitions, something Chelsea achieved after winning the league in the past.

“Where we are today is historic because even after winning the league and going to Africa, they (Chelsea) had not reached this level in the FA Cup,” he said.
“But I want to go even further and win the tournament.”

To fulfill his ambition, Boadu must first guide his side past Kotoko, who have revamped their technical team and are also desperate to win the FA Cup for the first time since 2017.
