Ahead of the upcoming State of the Nation Address (SONA), the government has significantly heightened security measures in response to threats allegedly issued by a prominent political figure.

The increased security aims to ensure a safe and orderly event, scheduled to take place in Parliament on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

As part of the enhanced protocols, the Formed Police Unit (FPU) has been strategically deployed at key locations, including the staff entrance of the parliamentary complex. Known for its expertise in public order management and protection duties, the FPU remains on high alert to prevent and respond to any potential disruptions.

While details of the threat have not been publicly disclosed, officials confirm that all necessary precautions are being taken to address any security concerns. Attendees and the general public are urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security personnel to ensure a smooth and incident-free event.

The State of the Nation Address is a critical moment in the political calendar, where the President outlines the government’s agenda and policy direction. Authorities stress the importance of maintaining a secure environment for all participants and encourage citizens to stay informed through official channels, reporting any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities.
