The Presiding Archbishop and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, Nicholas Duncan-Williams, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to make a profound and lasting impact during his current four-year tenure.

Leading a delegation of religious leaders at the maiden National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving at the State House Forecourt on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Archbishop Duncan-Williams emphasised that the mandate given to the government serves as a bold reminder of its developmental promise, one intended to benefit all citizens and future generations.

“Mr President, your presidency this time around and this mandate is not for you nor us. It’s for our children’s children. It’s for generations yet unborn. So, Mr President, make a difference, set the agenda, reset the economy and this nation,” he declared.

The Archbishop urged President Mahama, under his “Resetting Ghana Agenda,” to implement policies that will develop the country in a way that creates a lasting legacy for future generations.

He further advocated for the establishment of a comprehensive national development agenda to drive Ghana’s long-term progress.

He posited that such a plan would help streamline the country’s resources and revenue toward a unified national goal.

Duncan-Williams lamented Ghana’s apparent lack of consistent progress, attributing it to the absence of a long-term national development plan.

He drew comparisons to developed nations like China and Dubai, noting their steady economic growth stems from deliberate efforts to implement long-term national plans with clear visions and goals.

“National development agenda and a national vision. China, Dubai, India all have hundred years vision. Ghana, our motherland where is our vision? Where is our agenda?” he questioned.

“Under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, a national agenda and a developed plan should be established that compels all stakeholders—irrespective of your tribe, religion, background, and political party—by constitution to follow that agenda, so that our money, cocoa, oil, and all the resources will be channeled towards one common goal: the development of Ghana,” he added.

The inaugural National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving was held under the theme “Reset, Reflect, and Renew for National Prosperity.”
